As I write this post–shortly before midnight on February 23, 2022–I have one pressing question on my mind: Are we headed toward World War III? This question is the basis for this blog, whose domain I registered at 9:16 p.m. CST tonight. (Note: Foolishly, I used the domain worldwariiiblog.com, rather than wwiiiblog.com, for the first 24 hours. I’m glad I corrected that one!) This was several minutes after seeing CNN reporter Matthew Chance take cover in Kyiv, Ukraine, because of explosions he heard while reporting live on Don Lemon Tonight.

The explosions were heard just minutes after President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation.
I wasn’t alone in thinking what I was seeing on TV was potentially the beginning of World War III. The Drudge Report, a news aggregation website, posted the headline “COUNTDOWN WWIII.”

And now here I am, writing this blog post. If this post needs a proper welcome, here it is. I hope you enjoy the time you spend here. More importantly, I hope there is no World War III. But we’ll just have to wait and see.
